The Flight - From Shanghai to Huangshan - Shanghai Airlines
I was kind of getting used to flights being delayed at this point - and at least Shanghai Airlines was kind enough to provide us with a bit of juice after an hour, but after another 2 hours in an airport where I couldn’t sit down for fear of falling asleep I was more than ready to board the plane.
The great thing about Shanghai is that nobody really cares what you do, so I took a leaf out of the book of the Tai Chi enthusiasts and decided to take the time to exercise and get ready for my climb up the mountain the next day.
So, with my iPod plugged in, I decided to give Shanghai a taste of Zumba Fitness! Only one woman half looked at me, and it gave me the chance for a slightly unorthodox workout, which was probably a great thing considering how tough going up the mountain turned out to be!
Shanghai Airport has some great shops and cafes - but these peter out once you go through into the domestic area. Be careful about where you choose to shop, one cafe was charging 30RMB (£3) for water, when in the ground floor concessions it was 2RMB (£0.20). This is also a great place to stock up on nibbles you might enjoy when climbing the mountain, like different types of cracker and chocolate.
There is also a Ctrip area where you can go online to check emails - very well thought out!
