The Flight - Guilin to Shanghai - Juneyao Airlines
I flew with Juneyao Airlines from Guilin Airport (an hour by taxi from Yangshuo Town) into Shanghai Pudong Airport (also an hour by taxi from The Bund). Shanghai Pudong Airport was very efficient - bags arriving quickly and taxi rank well organised - although I only saw it on the way out as my next flight was from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport (pronounced Hong-chow).
Although the flight was absolutely fine the major problem was that it kept being delayed. As I’d already spent what felt like several days in the airport (and no domestic area of the Chinese airports I visited was exactly exciting) and was arriving into Shanghai by myself, I wasn’t very happy.
Rather than blame the airline though, it seems that most evening domestic flights in China have a tendency to be delayed, so if hanging around airports is not your thing I’d recommend you book an earlier flight.
Also I’d recommend that you book your flight early - you can get some very cheap flights online. If you book through Ctrip you may need to email them additional information to prevent credit card fraud (they’re trying to crack down - which I think is comforting) and there are some pretty generous cancellation fees if you do need to change your flight.
