If you’re lucky enough to go somewhere with facilities so elaborate that they have to categorise the hot rooms (instead of just having one “hot” room) then Caldarium is the name used for the hot room that’s hot, but not too hot, um... pleasantly hot. So you see why the Romans had to define their hot rooms.
In Spa London the Caldarium is the middle (both in location and heat) of three heat rooms or Turkish baths, in Salon Sensoriale in the Terme di Chianciano Spa it’s a small hot room attached to the Melmarium where you can go to relax after smothering yourself with mud. The other pleasant effect is that any mud which has dried starts to melt, so you can enjoy soaking in mud for even longer. Mmmm...
