it can also be used in a number of other ways; It is also "spa speak" for any kind of tapping or gentle hitting - sometimes with the hands or other instruments. (Much as percussion can be "spa speak" for hitting gentle or otherwise.)
(the literal English translation) can also be used to describe therapies which use er... tapping.
and is also used in certain therapies such EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) in which cognitive work, (i.e. thinking about certain experiences and emotions) is used with gentle tapping in key areas to help release us from those patterns. I've had some great experiences with EFT so would definitely recommend giving it a try.
